1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
In Short: We do not collect any personal information. A small amount of non-personal data is stored locally on your device only.
Information we do NOT collect
Our app does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information. Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal details.
- We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect your device’s location.
- We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or any other sensitive device resource.
Data stored locally on your device
The app stores the following data exclusively on your device using Android’s DataStore (a secure local storage system):
- Your selected currencies and preferred base currency
- The last amount you entered
- Cached exchange rate data for offline use
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
Internet access
The app connects to the internet solely to retrieve up-to-date exchange rates from Frankfurter, a free and open-source exchange rate API. These requests contain no personal data — only a standard HTTPS request for publicly available rate information.
2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We do not process any personal information. Exchange rate data is fetched from a public API and stored locally on your device to power the app’s core functionality.
The only data processing that occurs is:
- Fetching exchange rates from the Frankfurter public API over HTTPS
- Saving your app preferences (selected currencies, last amount) locally on your device
- Caching exchange rates locally on your device for offline use
None of this involves personal information, and none of it is shared with us or any third party.
3. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
In Short: We do not share any personal information because we do not collect any.
The only external service the app communicates with is the Frankfurter exchange rate API (frankfurter.app), which provides publicly available currency exchange rate data. No user data is included in these requests.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to any third parties.
4. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: All data is stored locally on your device and is retained until you uninstall the app or clear the app’s data.
Since we do not collect any information on our servers, we have no data to retain or delete on our end. All locally stored preferences and cached exchange rates are managed entirely by your device and can be cleared at any time through your Android device’s app settings.
5. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
In Short: All app data is stored locally using Android’s secure DataStore, and all network communication uses HTTPS encryption.
- Local storage: App preferences and cached data are stored using Android’s DataStore, which is sandboxed to the app and inaccessible to other apps on your device.
- Network: All requests to the Frankfurter exchange rate API are made over HTTPS, ensuring data in transit is encrypted.
- No tracking: The app contains no advertising SDKs, analytics libraries, or any third-party tracking code.
6. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?
In Short: No. The app does not collect any information from anyone, including children.
The app does not collect personal information from users of any age, including children under 13. It is safe for use by all ages. We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children.
7. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: Since we collect no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our end. You can clear all locally stored app data directly from your device settings.
Because we do not collect or store any personal information on our servers, standard data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure) do not apply to data held by us — there is none. All data the app generates lives on your own device and can be removed at any time by:
- Clearing app data: Settings → Apps → Currency Converter → Storage → Clear Data
- Uninstalling the app: This removes all locally stored data permanently.
